Well, this is pretty much the only artwork I've been working on for the last three months. Not because it was particularly hard to do, but simply because I've been very limited for time!
Won't go into details about it here, as no one really cares. In fact who reads this shit?
Short explaination: This was a commissioned illustration (note the £ signs popping into my eyeballs!) for a local poet, Rex Marshall. He's a lovely guy who allowed me to have practically free-reign over the image ... although college conditioned me not to take that seriously, so I was constantly checking for approval with him!
Anyway, I'm only uploading the image, as I haven't asked his permission to show the poem here yet. But I can tell you that it's about an old friend of his who used to be an Art Therapist, but was sadly struck down with Dimentia, I believe. Her mind reverted back to that of a child and she constantly wanted to escape the hospital to the gardens outside.
So, this was my response. It's not exactly brain taxing in concept, but I felt the poem needed just a simple response ... Which I'm well suited for!
PS - the running pose does comes from a stock image ... which I can't remember where from at the moment, so watch this space!

This is an amazing illustration! The detail in the skirt makes me very envious, and it flows nicely. I love it when I see a drawing that has movement like this, nevermind such gorgeous dramatic rendering - it draws you in. I love it. If I could put together sometime like this, I'd be a happy camper. XD
I like the texture in your latest works. And the perspective is really working nice for this pictures. It reminds me of Zork, do you know what that is?
What amazing textures. This drawing really speaks a lot to me, this is how illustrations should be. I love the fade from blue to black on the checkerboard and the flowers under the dress. Almost like the back door to wonderland or Oz.
