21 - The World

The Final Card ... apart from the Hermit, which I can't upload here .... oh, and Temperance, which I still need to do ... er, yeah, the Final Card

So, obviously, the World is about the end of a journey, the Fool's journey to understand his/her place in the world, essential to know him/her self. Mastery of yourself can't be accomplished without great effort. This card is saying that you've gone through the trials of the previous cards and now you've won. You finally understand your role in the universe, and the World is ready to reward you for you efforts. Literally, the World is your oyster.

So I thought I'd portray the completion of the journey, taking the final step, as climbing a ladder. I'm not sure why, but I think it was something to do with the idea of rising above yourself, and people always refer the education as climbing a ladder; each year becomes a rung etc. Maybe Stariway to Heaven

Ok, well, it made sense to me, so screw you hipppies!

I also wanted this card to be a throwback to the first card, The Fool, kinda like coming full circle. So I used the symbols again on the side of the ladder, to indicate that the Fool has been through all of them to get to here.

INVERTED: ill reward, recompense, lack of closure, stagnation, unfinished business
