This took a LONG time, but I like it. As much as I hate it! Blah!
The Hanged Man is sometimes about sacrifice (which is why the guy is usually ... hanged) but it's mainly about looking at things differently (which is why the guy is hanged ... upside down)
I thought at first of actually changing the perspective, so that the viewer would actually have to change his/her perspective in order to see it properly. But that was crap, so I stopped. Then I saw a painting where someone was looking into a mirror, but it didn't reflect their front, but their back. No idea what it was. It just gave me the idea to show a kind of mirror that just went on and on, reflecting nothing but the same image. So it's saying that you're looking at things the wrong way. You need to change your perspective. Bam 
THE HANGED MAN: conviction, decision, looking at different alternatives, reevaluation of goals, sacrifice, letting go and surrendering to experience and emotional release, reversing your view of the world and seeing things in a new light.
INVERTED: selfishness, tunnel vision, punishment, futility, blind allegiance, depression

I see it as sacrificing various surface aspects of yourself until you arrive at the truth of yourself.
